Email providers limit the size of attachments, commonly to around 20-25 MB, and many company mail servers set the limit lower. A PDF with photos or scanned pages can easily go over that limit.

This tool recompresses the images in your PDF and shows you the size before and after. Your file is processed temporarily on our server and is not kept. If the PDF is mostly text, it may not get much smaller.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload the PDF you want to send (up to 30 MB).
  2. Choose Balanced first. If it is still too big, try Maximum.
  3. Download the smaller file and attach it to your email.

Frequently asked questions

What is the usual email attachment limit?

It varies by provider and by company. Many allow about 20-25 MB, and some allow less, so check the limit of your own email service.

It is still too large. What now?

Try the Maximum level. You can also use Split PDF to send the document in parts, or share a download link instead of an attachment.

Will the text stay sharp?

Yes. Compression affects the images inside the PDF, not the text.
