This tool makes a PDF smaller by recompressing the images inside it, scaling down very large ones, and compressing the internal data of each page. You can choose Light, Balanced or Maximum compression, and after processing it shows how much space was saved.

PDFs full of photos or scans shrink the most. A PDF that is mostly text, or that was already optimised, may not get much smaller. If the result would not be smaller, you receive the original file unchanged.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload your PDF (up to 30 MB).
  2. Choose a compression level. Balanced is a good starting point.
  3. Press Convert & download and compare the sizes shown.

Frequently asked questions

Which compression level should I use?

Start with Balanced. If the file is still too large, try Maximum, which lowers image quality more. Light keeps the most detail.

Will compression reduce image quality?

Yes, images are recompressed and some are scaled down. Higher levels reduce quality more. Text is not affected.

Why did my file not get smaller?

Text-only or already optimised PDFs have little left to compress. In that case the original file is returned.
